Description
Preva GingivaGuard – Light Curing Gingival Resin Barrier
Preva GingivaGuard – Light-Curing Gingival Resin Barrier provides temporary protection and isolation of gingival and adjacent soft tissues during dental procedures. Dentists apply the resin-based material directly along the gingival margins and light-cure it to create a flexible protective barrier.
The cured barrier helps protect soft tissues from accidental contact with bleaching agents, etchants and other dental materials. In addition, its tinted formulation provides good visibility during application. Therefore, dentists can achieve controlled and precise placement around the treatment area.
Preva GingivaGuard works with suitable dental LED or halogen curing lights. After treatment, the dentist can gently lift an edge and peel away the cured barrier.
Clinical Applications
- In-office tooth whitening – Helps protect gingival tissues during professional tooth-whitening procedures.
- Gingival margin isolation – Provides temporary protection and isolation of gingival margins during dental procedures.
- Acid-etching procedures – Helps protect adjacent soft tissues from accidental contact with etching materials.
- Air abrasion procedures – Protects gingival tissues during air abrasion and other procedures where dental materials may cause irritation.
- Temporary soft-tissue protection – Provides temporary sealing or isolation of gingival areas when additional soft-tissue protection is clinically required.

- Light-cured application – Dentists can cure the material with a standard compatible dental LED or halogen curing light.
- Flexible protective barrier – The cured resin forms a flexible layer over gingival and adjacent soft tissues.
- Easy removal – Dentists can gently lift and peel away the cured barrier after completing the procedure.
- Tinted for better visibility – The visible color supports controlled and precise application around gingival margins.
- Versatile soft-tissue protection – Suitable for a range of dental procedures that require temporary gingival protection and isolation.
Why Choose Preva GingivaGuard?
Quick and Convenient Application
Dentists can apply a thin, continuous bead directly along the gingival margins. Therefore, Preva GingivaGuard provides a convenient approach to temporary soft-tissue isolation.
Flexible Gingival Protection
After light curing, the resin forms a flexible protective barrier over the gingiva. As a result, it helps protect soft tissues from accidental exposure to potentially irritating dental materials.
Controlled Light Curing
Dentists can polymerize Preva GingivaGuard with a suitable dental LED or halogen curing light. Moreover, they can cure larger areas in sections to achieve complete polymerization.
Good Application Visibility
The tinted material makes the applied barrier easy to see. Consequently, dentists can inspect the area for gaps and achieve more controlled coverage before curing.
Easy Removal After Treatment
After completing the procedure, the dentist can gently lift an edge of the cured material with a suitable blunt dental instrument. Then, the dentist can carefully peel away the flexible barrier.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Preva GingivaGuard?
Preva GingivaGuard is a light-curing gingival resin barrier for temporary protection of gingival and adjacent soft tissues during dental procedures. After curing, it forms a flexible protective barrier.
2. What is Preva GingivaGuard used for?
Dentists use Preva GingivaGuard to isolate and protect gingival tissues. For example, it can protect the gingiva during tooth whitening, acid etching and air abrasion procedures.
3. Can dentists use Preva GingivaGuard during tooth whitening?
Yes. Dentists can use Preva GingivaGuard during in-office tooth-whitening procedures. The cured barrier helps protect gingival tissues from accidental contact with bleaching agents.
4. How thick should dentists apply Preva GingivaGuard?
Dentists should build the barrier to approximately 1.5–2.0 mm thickness. This thickness provides adequate protection and also helps facilitate removal after treatment.
5. How long should dentists light-cure Preva GingivaGuard?
Dentists should light-cure the applied material for approximately 20–30 seconds while slowly moving the curing light across the entire surface. For larger areas, they should cure the barrier in sections as necessary.
6. Which type of curing light can dentists use?
Dentists can use a suitable dental LED or halogen curing light. However, they should position and operate the curing light according to the curing-light manufacturer’s instructions.
7. How does the dentist know whether the barrier is ready?
After curing, the dentist should check the barrier for adequate hardness, retention and complete coverage. If an area remains uncured or inadequately protected, the dentist should apply additional material and light-cure it again before continuing.
8. How do dentists remove Preva GingivaGuard?
First, the dentist should remove or rinse away the treatment material according to its manufacturer’s instructions. Next, the dentist can gently lift an edge of the cured barrier with a suitable blunt dental instrument. Then, the dentist can carefully peel away the barrier and rinse the treated area.
9. Can Preva GingivaGuard be applied over damaged gingiva?
No. Dentists should not apply Preva GingivaGuard to open wounds, ulcerated areas, actively bleeding tissues or visibly damaged gingiva.
10. Can dentists reuse the applicator tip?
No. Dentists must use a new disposable applicator tip for each patient. Applicator tips are for single use only and must not be reused.
